He's back again! Trump sworn in as 47th US President
Washington - There were times when hardly anyone believed it. But now everyone has to come to terms with the reality: Donald Trump (78) is once again US President.
The 78-year-old and his Vice President J.D. Vance (40) took the oath of office in front of the President of the Supreme Court shortly before 12 noon (6 p.m. CET).
The heads of the major American tech companies were given a place of honor at Trump's inauguration. They were seated next to candidates for the future US president's administration.
Several of the tech bosses occupied a row: Mark Zuckerberg (40) from the Facebook group Meta and his wife Priscilla, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos (61) with girlfriend Lauren Sanchez and Google boss Sundar Pichai (52).
Tech billionaire Elon Musk (53), who is considered one of the new president's closest confidants, was seated next to Trump's son Barron (18).
Apple boss Tim Cook (64) was seen a little to the side next to Google co-founder Sergey Brin (51). Sam Altman (39), the head of the ChatGPT developer OpenAI, was also among the attendees.
Joe Biden warns against oligarchy
The tech company bosses and their companies had donated to Trump's inauguration.
In one of his last speeches, outgoing President Joe Biden (82) warned of an oligarchy in America.
Just a few minutes before his successor was sworn in, he pardoned numerous family members.
"My family has been subjected to incessant attacks and threats aimed solely at harming me," the 82-year-old said.
So ends his first and last presidency, Trump's second begins!
