Return from Hamas hell: Hostage (28) returns disfigured!

Israel - After more than a year in the clutches of Hamas, a 28-year-old Israeli hostage has finally been released - but the ordeal of captivity has left its mark: she returns disfigured!

It was a nightmare that lasted over a year: on October 7, 2023, Emily Damari, a British-Israeli citizen, was attacked in her home by armed Hamas militants, reported the Israeli online news site Kikar.

In a bloody attack in which she suffered injuries to her hands and legs, she was captured and abducted.

But after 471 days of horror, redemption finally came. On Sunday afternoon, Emily and two other women, Doron Steinbrecher (31) and Romi Gonen (24), were freed from Hamas captivity.

There was great joy at their release, but also sadness for what the months in the hands of the terrorists have left behind.

Pictures show Emily being greeted by her mother in hospital after her release - tears of relief in her eyes.

But despite the joy of her return to life, the scars of her captivity are obvious.

The 28-year-old paid a terrible price at the hands of her captors: she lost two fingers - a lasting reminder of the unimaginable suffering she had to endure over the past 471 days.

The two other women are now also receiving medical treatment.

In addition to physical examinations, they are also receiving psychological care - including, according to kan, a possible pregnancy check.

33 more hostages will be released in the next few weeks

Over the next six weeks, 33 more hostages are to be released - but the price is high.

In return, Israel is releasing more than 1905 Palestinian prisoners, including high-ranking, dangerous terrorists who are responsible for atrocious crimes.
